Something New and Exciting at Breaktimes

13/02/2013

Students, parents, teachers, and staff may have noticed some big round cement slabs being built on the playground a while back. If you were not able to figure out what they were going to be used for, all one had to do was to be patient. The next thing one saw happening were official Tether Ball Rules being very neatly drawn on the wall by a Tinga-Tinga artist. Finally with rules, lines drawn and balls strung up, the games were ready to begin! We now have three tether- ball courts that are in use everyday at every recess. You may be wondering what the heck is tether- ball? This game has been in existence for more than 50 years in the United States, England, New Zealand and Australia where it is called swing ball. Tether- ball is a most exciting game that can be played by children and adults of all ages. All you have to do is practice the skills of hitting, jumping and keeping your eye on the ball. Stay tuned to the EE for future announcements of tetherball happenings and tournaments.
